Stratford Swords is a friendly and inclusive group based in the lovely Shakespearean town of Stratford-upon-Avon and focused on the study of Historical Fencing.
We study manuscripts written by Medieval and Renaissance fencing masters, such as Johannes Liechtenauer, Fiore dei Liberi, and Salvator Fabris, who wrote their instructions for fighting with the different weapons of the day.
Our school aims to create a welcoming and collaborative space. We examine a variety of weapons and masters from history, supporting both scholars and enthusiasts to advance their learning, enhance their lives, and make friends in the process.
Founder
In search of people to train with, Shanee founded Stratford Swords to meet more people and share her love for swords.
She can usually be found talking about mechanics with a sword in her hand, or cuddling a cat.
Senior Instructor
Passionate about anything swords, Kate often travels across the globe to train with the best swords instructors out there in a pursuit for mastery.
If you can't find her, she's hiding in her sword cave doing solo drills ⚔️
Junior Instructor
Elizabeth is a passionate scholar of Arms and Armour, and is particularly interested in the fight treatises that we look at in our HEMA studies.
If she’s not got her nose in a manuscript, she’s probably researching mysterious myth and folklore.
